Italy

To represent Italy in our blipper-sourced photo album, Ridgeback13 has kindly sent us this shot of the Ponte della Maddalena. Thank you Ridgeback13! The bridge crosses the Serchio river neat Borgo a Mozzano in the Lucca province of Italy. Find our more about the bridge on Wikipedia.

This shot ties to three entries in Lorna Lloyd's Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series). 

1. September 5th 1939, when Lorna dwells on Italy's half-hearted support for Hitler at the very start of the war - covered in Episode 1 of the podcast series.
2. June 11th 1940, when Lorna notes that Italy has declared war on Britain and France - covered in Episode 6 the podcast series.
3. November 4th 1940, when Lorna reports the start of the Italian-Greco war (28th October 1940 to 23rd April 1941) - covered in Episode 7 of the podcast series. 

If you have any photographs not previously blipped that we could add to this journal's pipeline (which is now running dry), please do send it(them) to h.hall@napier.ac.uk so that we can will feature it(them) alongside the others that we have been blipping here since 13th July 2022. 

We realise that it is going to be difficult to source shots of some of the locations listed* We will therefore also be happy to receive photographs from blippers to represent these 'tricky' places (see for example our blip of 4th December). Thank you!

*although why Bolton, Coventry, Gloucester and Ilford are still on the list, we really cannot fathom!
