A foot of snow falls in four hours

We woke to find snow falling. Within four hours there was a foot lying. It is now 11am, the snow fall has stopped and the landscape has brightened up. I took the photo from my study window at about 9am.

The toboggans are beginning to appear on the slopes across the valley. There will be a lot of excitable children and adults probably with loud voices breaking that notable snowy silence.

We aren't going anywhere except to the garden to feed the birds. Luckily I refilled the empty feeders when I came home from the market yesterday afternoon. The birds are in for a hard time. :-((
