Golden Oak

For us in our little village it was coldest night so far this winter (and this year?). Minus 5 degrees right next to the house. Being so close to the coast we don’t usually get many hard frosts.

During the day is has been around 2 degrees, mainly over cast with some rain. We walked Merlin in the field a few times. This morning the frosty landscape was stunning, particularly with the golden leaves of the oak trees still in tact. An usual sight as the trees are usually bare by now.

As we walked I gathered foliage and seed heads to make festive arrangements for the house. Much of the rest of the day has been spent with secateurs in hand, trying not to get prickles stuck in my fingers! The house is looking a little more festive at least.

Baked potatoes for dinner. It feels like that kind of day, and I dug up some rather large potatoes at the allotment earlier this week.

Wishing you a warm and peaceful evening.
