Saturday: Gala Night

Apart from K and I doing a run up to Belize City to take my cousin to the airport, the whole day was spent prepping for our gala dinner tonight.  It took a lot of effort but everyone stepped in beautifully.  We’ve had a house full of people all day but there’s been a really good atmosphere.

The evening went off very well.  We had about 180 guests in total - K wasn’t doing the cooking, I hasten to add.  The purpose of the evening was to raise money for women’s shelters and for education programmes to tackle gender-based violence.

The only downside is that we’ve had really bad rain over the last few days and the garden was an absolute mud bath.  Everyone took it in good spirits, though, and I’m assured Belizeans are used to it.
