Carrot harvest

We harvested carrots and parsnips, the ground was frozen but it somehow made it easier to shake the soil off the vegetables. We put them all in the polytunnel to defrost and then we’ll put them in storage.
I had a Christmas night out with friends at Hebridean Lodge. We got lifts over and had the community transport booked to bring us home. The meal was delicious as always and it felt very Christmassy indeed to watch the snow falling outside. We got a phonecall from the community transport to say they wouldn’t come out in the snow so we arranged a taxi. We set off for home and realised how bad the snow was, the road was awful and we got stuck. A couple of guys from the village came out to rescue us and it was all very dramatic! I was glad to get home safely, I’m a nervous passenger at the best of times let alone in the snow.
