Toddle Waddle
3years 202days
Well Katie did better than she could have done after a 3.30pm bedtime. She slept until nearly 5am. That was it for the day then though. She's free from rash, and therefore free from infectiousness now so when she woke bouncing with a fair bit of energy, I decided she could do her swimming lesson. She did some really good very nearly front crawl almost the full width of the learner pool. She needed the toilet part way through and was bouncing with pride. "Mummy I did BEAUTIFUL swimming, Andy said I did good swimming!" Which to be fair was true. We headed straight home - the whole morning was made sooo much easier by having a bike again!
We didnt do ballet today as today was Katie's first toddle waddle with her nursery. She was quite excited about "walking day". The children were all allowed in the nursery rooms before the walk and several of them, Katie included, were not at all sure about going in to nursery on a not nursery day and took a few of them a little while to allow parents beyond arms' length!
They were all very very excited about the walk. It wobbled for a while for Katie as a giant duck (man dressed as) appeared and she freaked briefly. The manager explained which staff member it was so Katie was blabbing to most people "Stephens a duck, Stephens a duck". Over the course of the walk she ventured nearer and nearer to the duck and has chattered about it non-stop since. To our nursery's huge credit, they certainly know how to put on an event. Nearly the entire staff turned out, about 70 parents and children too. We arrived to freshly made scones by the cook, hot drinks, juice for the children and a lovely informal time for them playing at nursery and the parents/staff to chat. She was made up to see her keyworker for the first time since she was off. We had a really good time! So much so that she was quite sad to leave Brooke.
She snuggled in the carrier on my tummy and asked to go for a babyccino. So we walked into town for a little potter. We decided for a change to investigate the bus that goes into our estate. Wayyyy cheaper than a taxi at £1.20 and it pulls up right near our house!
We've had a gentle time this afternoon playing. Katie's made it up later than the last two nights, but I think at 5.20 we're not far off her being ready for beddybyes!
