The Guards
Still in Athens although today we took a bus trip down to the Port of Pireaus, which i found a bit disappointing. I imagined at least the remnants of a small fishing port with some nice little boats. Well I did not find that, more a run of over development with restuarants sealing off the harbour from the casual visitor. Of course we had a nice lunch but I think the multiplication of harbour front restaurants has cost Pireaus most of its charm.
There were some nice boats, but not many were little, and not many cost less than a few million.
Bus back to Athens for a walk in the National Gardens before watching the changing of the guards in front of the parliament building.
like the guards out side the palace in london this was also a bizarre ceremony, no doubt fully explainable if you look back through the historical developments.
