A day of cancellations

The main bf showing a near whiteout over the Loch. More like sleet than snow.

After rain and a thaw yesterday the freezing conditions during the night have left roads covered in black ice, the driver in the gritting lorry had come so far from Tobermory only to turn back, I believe he had another off road incident, enough is enough I should think he said. It sounds as though all roads into and through the village are covered in black ice making it near impossible to drive anywhere.

Many weeks ago four of us booked a table for a meal out tonight in a lovely restaurant on the other side of the village. The other couple live 10 miles away and phoned earlier this afternoon to say it looked impossible to drive over, we had just decided we couldn’t make it to the restaurant either, it’s only a mile and half, what a shame. I’m sure a few years ago walking would have been the answer, we didn’t fancy that tonight.

Also an email earlier arrived to say the Christmas event in the village hall tomorrow had to be cancelled, it was the safest thing to do. The mince pies (nearly made) will not go to waste.

Extra shows a birch tree looking pretty in it’s winter colours and
little girl not giving a damn about anything.

It remains to be seen if we all make it into the village for the Dervaig Christmas market on Monday evening. Fingers Crossed.
