Skating on Ice

The canal by our house has been frozen for a few days now.  I don't think the ice is very thick but it certainly puzzled the two swans who live on this patch of the water.  One went out onto the ice to see if it would take their weight, the other looked on pensively. Eventually they both braved the ice then taking a slippery run took off and flew towards the marina.

Word of warning: only walk on iced water if you have webbed feet and can fly.  The tragedy that took those four poor boys in Solihull should never be repeated.

Later this evening we drove over to St John's as we had been invited to Jo's daughter's birthday party.  There were eight of us and we had a really nice time. We had all preordered Indian and Chinese takeaways and a good time was had by all.  Jo supplied the birthday cake!
