Planning News

After picking up the Minky from pink Granny, I realised it had been a while since we’d had a nosey around Lauriston Castle. And it would be a fine day for it, as everything is still quite frozen, and magical - well, hopefully, if you’re a child. It certainly seemed magical to me. Of course after a good play round the area including a drop into Mimi’s cafe, she started getting cold hands and got quite miserable and demanded carrying. Back home to warm up and get happy again.
Big news in the 'hood is that the spivs behind the Granton Harbour development have put all the remaining plots up for sale. Having coined it for years by flogging off plots for residential blocks and sweetening the planners and council with their grand masterplan for a marina and hotel, they’re getting ready to scarper. As we cynics always suspected. Meanwhile the council touts the laudable idea of "twenty minute” neighbourhoods where all your services (GP, school, shops) are within a twenty minute walk. On the ground, just like West Harbour, there’s not so much as bloody cafe.
