Little trip to the lighthouse today, now that it's available to the public: in Summer season it's only accessible by a pay per journey bus from Mahon. The lighthouse itself is not that interesting, but the landscape it's constructed upon is other-worldly. Black sheets of slate border the sea, and pockmarked clusters of sandstone rocks surround the edifice itself, the holes formed by honeycomb weathering.
