Over the Edge

We heard a whisper yesterday that there were a few lads kayaking over the edge of Maruia Falls today, so Son T and I went to investigate. Five very brave souls went over the falls, descending down into the deep waters at the bottom. We patiently awaited their return to the top of the water, and sighed with relief when their kayak (and head) popped back through the water.

Here daredevil Z was having his second shot at going over the falls. Even though it was a brilliantly fine day, the water would have still been very cold. How brave they all were - or perhaps the adrenaline was going to their heads! Whatever it was, you sure wouldn't find me in the water at this time of year, yet alone kayaking down this very forceful surge of Maruia Falls.
