Student A told me last week that he, Student Z and ex-student S were all going to have a go at kayaking off Maruia Falls this weekend.

The others have done it before but it was a first time for A. He handled it with aplomb.

No doubt there will be a few blips of this event today - there were 4 blippers there!

These falls were created by the 1929 Murchison Earthquake and have gradually got higher and higher as the power of the river has cut away at the river bed. The falls are now more than 30 feet high and a phenomenal amount of water pours over the edge every second. Anyone kayaking this has to be crazy!!
