US medical system in disarray

In the ER with a neighbor who fell. We have waited 5 hours. All rooms full. Hospital full. No doctor available. No treatment for her. (Phone photo.)

Update: just a little before midnight (we had arrived at 4pm) they said they would need to keep her in the hospital for a day or two, as she lives alone and is confused and disoriented. She's 80. I am so thankful that they kept her. I walked home in the quiet night and am grateful (and hopeful) she will get needed care, although at the moment there are no beds available. They will keep her in the ER till a bed opens up.
