Just Eat

We have such a gathering of Blackbirds on the front lawn as they devour the apples. It is highly entertaining to watch whilst washing up. One male tries to send other Blackbirds away, presumably this is instinctive behaviour from the breeding season when the pair, who nest in our garden and assume it as their territory, will not allow any other Blackbird anywhere near. This however, doesn't work when there are often around a dozen birds and they are hungry. As one gets moved off it just finds another spot and continues eating. Most annoying for the Blackbird, but great fun to watch. 

Meanwhile the females take no notice of the others at all. This one didn't even bother that I was there. Priorities!
