Live it loud!

Last of a generation

After many months of illness and years of deteriorating health, it is with great sadness that I can now say that my dad, George, passed away quietly late on Wednesday.
Recent posts have been filled with details of the stress we've faced trying to keep both mum and dad safe and well considering their failing health and challenging conditions. But, all those directly involved have always done their utmost to provide the best possible care.

Dad was massively hit by the passing of his youngest brother Colin earlier this year. That made him as the eldest, also the last of four siblings. His eldest brother Mick passed away over a decade ago and his sister Anne a couple of years ago.
Dad didn't expect to be both the first and last of his generation.
I believe this picture of dad with Anne was taken in the early 1940s.

Mum and dad married in 1957 and moved into their only home.
Anne and her husband Mike married soon after. They lived with mum and dad while their own house was being built. Their own house was less than 200 yards away and in direct line of sight of the house of mum and dad's. This photo shows the closeness that they shared throughout their life.

Just mum to look after now. RIP dad!
