Saturday: Commemoration

There are two significant dates here in terms of war commemoration - one is in April/May when tribute is paid to the victims of the Jasenovac Concentration camp, the other is in November and refers to the Balkans War.  The main victims at Jasenovac were Serbs, Roma, Jews and those who opposed the Ustasha regime.

Today there was a commemoration held at Jasenovac during which, together with others doing the same, I laid a wreath at the base of the monument to commemorate the victims.  There were a number of speeches from politicians, including the President, survivors, and leaders of a number of religious communities.  

Today is one of those days where average shot, but symbolising the day, wins.
