Investigations

Now here’s the thing.
Outside my kitchen door, in the corner of the step, there has been some disturbance of the earth and stones over the last few weeks. At first it seemed like a small (think mouse-size) hole had been made.
But of late, the hole was getting bigger and even when I shoved a rather large bit of stone down the hole, that was mysteriously moving in the depths of the night.
Husband was dispatched to make good said hole, which he did with some hardcore, packing it well in.
So imagine my exclaim of exasperation this morning when I saw that had been moved too.
During the last week, a pile of earth had also appeared on the right hand side of the planter by the fence that houses my clematis.
So, having nothing better else to do, husband declared he would sort the pesky little blighter(s) out today.
Upon investigation, the earth by the planter does seem to have been mouse related. In fact once I had put the dogs back in the house he actually popped his head out - see extra.
He can stay. Don’t mind mouse.
The hole by the back door has now been cemented up. It was definitely bigger than a mouse hole. Think long tailed bigger cousin.
If he decides to come back, he’d better bring a chisel and hammer.
