I didn't wake until 11:30, after a great night's sleep (which is unusual these days). After coffee Carl and I settled down for a long-since-we-watched-any episode from the final series of Ballykissangel. Kieran Prenderville (the original writer) had written this episode and it was wonderful, fully restoring out faith in what at its best was a terrific programme.

After that and after brunch we retired back to carl's Kino to watch the second half of The Hobbit (An Unexpected Journey). We agreed that it was loads better than we'd expected. Casting, special effects, cinematography: all were excellent, Our greatest fear - that Martin Freeman had been a bad choice as Bilbo - proved unfounded, and even James Nesbitt (not one of our favourite actors) was good. We're now looking forward to the next of the trilogy.

I headed for home afterwards, but stopped off at the People's Park in Dún Laoghaire to do some blipping. I got quite a good crop, but chose this as today's blip as the best of the bunch.

Goodness but it's good to be back blipping and enjoying my new camera!
