Swinging sixties?

This unusual bear with the somewhat psychedelic specs was placed in my wife’s Santa sock one Christmas in the early/ mid 60s when she lived in Dublin.

It is not a creation that can be described as endearing. Yet here it is hanging on the Christmas tree over half a century later.
