Window in the wall

Walking round the back lanes, and noticed this. For scale, the black circular piece at the top is a typical vent, probably for a heating boiler, so about 15cm in diameter. There's a tiny pipe below the window, too. 

Cold and wet most of the day. Found a short gap in the weather for a walk around the streets.
