In a Nutshell....
It feels like I've been driving for most of the day. In fact, I have been driving for most of the day on what turned out to be a circular tour of East Anglia of just under 200 miles. W's sister went home today so we had to drive her the 70 miles to Peterborough to catch her train. We could, of course, have come straight back home again. However, when we visited York before Christmas, W bought herself a coat. And a very nice coat it appeared to be, too.
On Christmas Eve, W decided to wear the coat. She cut off the labels and unpicked the stitching holding the rear vent together and put it on. Now, when you try on a coat in a shop you're really just looking to see how it suits you. You don't tend to notice that the lining is badly sewn in so hangs at a strange angle, the sleeves haven't been turned over properly so form a big lump, and the rear vent isn't straight and pulls open. No, you notice these when you get the coat home and the nearest shop to return it to is in Bury St Edmunds, about 56 miles from home.
It wasn't a cheap coat, so there was no way we were going to keep it. So after we left Peterborough we headed to B St E and returned the coat, had a little wander round and then drove home. My picture is of The Nutshell pub there; officially Britain's smallest pub at only 15ft long and 7ft wide.
I've added an extra taken at Peterborough station, not because it has any particular merit but because it's 28th December and I've still got five extras to use. I'll see if I can manage four more equally uninteresting shots before the year end.
