I forgot my shirt at the waters edge

Today was a lovely adventure.

We went sailing on a catamaran to spot whales and dolphins.

A taxi dropped us at the booth by the marina, but sadly was the wrong one. With a wonky leg it was a bit stressful trying to get along to the right place; especially with the ups and downs on the prom.


But got there we did ; and boarded and grabbed a pew. Not on the net. I don’t think I would have been able to rise up from there.

Fifteen minutes into the sail and ….. there was a whale. AND it’s baby.

We watched them for ten minutes and then sailed on . Another ten minutes and there were bottlenose dolphins……

Another 15 minutes - spotted dolphins.

It was all very beautiful and peaceful. No totally enjoyed sitting watching a boat load of people rubberised one side of the boat to the other.


The dolphins just swimming for joy off side of the boat was an utter privilege.

We stopped in a little cove and the offer was put out to everyone if they wanted to swim… ‘say yes to life’. That’s out motto…. And off Tooli jumped. I doubt very much if I had jumped. Id be getting Back on board !


We got off boat and headed back to hotel. Himself got me some pain killers from chemist.

Then we went back to hotel. Just in time for last orders at lunch… and then a nap.

Tonight 23rd is a big night in Funchal… the farmers market is on all night… at midnight they all down fruits and sing carols…

We took a taxi in; he dropped us as close as he could all fintar roads were closed. And closed they had to be because the pavements were full to over flowing! I have not seen so many people in all my days

Madeira Buns, Poncho, it was everywhere And the lights. There were so many lights

We stopped off in a street restaurant and ate fresh fish and drank Rose. And watched the people .

Oooh it was a lovely day!
