Blinded by the light

This young guy was working behind the bar at one our local pubs today where we met up with The Dizzle and Ms R. The staff were all going full out to entertain and I suspect it got very busy later but we were there mid afternoon before going ‘round to the Yoga Mama where we played Kalooki and drank Earl Grey liqueur (yes there really is such a thing).

We did a movie before tuning in for the fireworks on tv. Sam Ryder was hosting the entertainment either side of midnight. I’ve never seen him before. He is exhaustingly happy and has huge white teeth and abnormal amounts of enthusiasm. Then we flipped channels and played our annual game of Spot The Roger with Jools Holland. His format is exhausted rather than exhausting and included the toothless Andy Fairweather Low, which was appropriate as his singing marked a new low in New Year’s Eve entertainment. 

Would have been my cousin Ross’s 43rd birthday today had he not been killed in a road traffic accident earlier this year. Still very sad.

But this has been a brilliant festive season - really lovely. To be cherished in the remaining winter months.
