Longing

Something a bit different today - a chance to stop photographing my cats/Dad and actually think about the pictures I want to take.

Julia came over this afternoon to be my model in a little photo shoot. Our theme of the day was 'longing' and we decided on a vintage-y feel, so Julia donned an old dress and we pinned her hair up. It tok a while to figure out how I wanted to do it but once I headed outside to take photos through the window I seemed to get what I was after. I'm quite pleased with what I got, although it's times like this that I wish I had any knowledge of post processing (I don't even have Photoshop or Lightroom or whatever, which makes me feel like a bad photographer haha!) so I could clean up the reflections.

In typical Melbourne style it started pouring with rain halfway through, which led to me standing outside the house under an umbrella Dad was holding for me. At a crucial point someone walked past us on the street and clearly sent Julia an odd look through the window, which made her crack up. Apart from that, she was the perfect model - I'm lucky to have someone who'll cater to my whims and do random stuff in the name of photography!

There were some very lovely pictures of Julia, but a lot of them unfortunately show me and Dad in the reflection - if anyone has advice on how to fix this, please let me know! I'd love to do some proper editing and see if I can get these pictures looking a bit classier. I picked this one because it seems to show the theme perfectly - you can see the letter in Julia's hand and her expression is perfect.
