Up Pompei

Arrived late in Positano on the Amalfi coast last night, after a hair-raising drive round the coast road in the dark. (Thanks to Mr & Mrs 42 for the loan of the satnav, so at least the navigation wasn't stressful).

Today it was off to Pompei to do the tourist thing. I was impressed despite myself - there are some amazing remnants, including early Roman election graffiti. One candidate was promising more parades, more spectacles and more (gladitorial) fights if he was elected - good to know that populist politicians are not a new thing.

We also popped up Vesuvius in the morning to get an idea of what caused the damage... hot hot hot.
