Blue tit profile

Here the great tits outnumber the weaker smaller blue tits ten to one, so it is good to see many more around this winter.  Perhaps the milder weather has helped them.   They are very timid and soon take off when a sparrow or great tit arrives which are more aggressive and bullying, and we have seen them evicted from the nestbox when the entrance is just a tiny fraction too large to give the smaller blue tit precedence.
