One Way City......

This is quite a typical street scene these days in Christchurch post earthquakes....

It looks like a bit of a mess, and it is exactly that! There is some major repair works being done underground , to sewers and water-pipes, and it is unfortunate that in the process the roads have to be dug up and the traffic diverted while this work is being done.
Of course the reason for this is because pretty much all the ground was so shaken up with the EQs that all of this infrastructure was broken/damaged, and now , 2 1/2 years on the repairs are in full swing. So , we all have to be very patient and non-complaining, but it is very frustrating when driving around town, to come across endless dead ends, and Road Closed signs, and then have to do a big detour that takes you thru streets you never knew existed!
Today I went down this fairly busy road, which is now a one-way road, and will be for months I think. I felt sorry for the retailers here , as their business has really been taken away from them.
