Winter box
It has rained most of the day which made for a trying drive to my Mum's house with so much surface water on the motorways. However, I felt glad that I had had the car's brake discs and pads replaced last week.
The sweet and strong scent of the Sarcococca confusa (Winter Box) in the front garden greeted me.
Later in the afternoon Peter H visited us for tea and cake. His late mother was a great friend of my mother's, our fathers used to go walking together, and he went to the same school as I and my sisters did, so there was a lot of reminiscing. He wanted to see my Mum before she moves. He's such a kind and thoughtful man. He works in the local Waitrose store so I often catch up with him, but only briefly, when I am shopping for my Mum. It was good to have a longer, more leisurely, conversation.
