Blue Skies Over Leven Terrace
Don’t let the blue skies fool you, the wind made it feel like -1°. I took this photo of Leven Terrace at the end of the Meadows as I tramped back from a restorative and peaceful visit to Morningside Library - not quite as wonderful as that in Stromness but the best on offer in the vicinity.
Because my learning curve is steep at the moment, I went to Tesco to get a LED dimmable light for the dining room. I didn’t know there was such a thing until last week and I’m hoping that not having one before now was the reason for the flicker that has afflicted the said light for 12years.
Later I had a visit from daughter#2 who is working from home today editing a medical Hand Journal and who was having a touch of cabin fever. A cup of tea revived her and she departed leaving me to phone a neighbour from long ago who is now 103.
She is as bright as a button but has developed macular degeneration which has interfered with her ability to read books. She is such a positive person and although she now lives in a care home, she is very independent and loves to hear from her 4 children 8 grandchildren and 13 great children. Most of the family are medics like her and her late husband; it seems strange to me that apart from a vet and a lawyer not one of them has rebelled.
The most telling part of our conversation was when she said the worst bit about being so old was she had outlived all her friends and how she missed them. However she is so bright and interesting that she has many visitors and phone calls from her children and their friends.
