Cloisters

We had a visit this morning by the next door neighbour’s daughter ahead of the new neighbours arriving tomorrow. We reminisced over the past nearly 35 years. Lots of memories tinged by the farewell although, as she lives in Edinburgh, we hope to keep in touch.

This afternoon was a more sad affair as we were saying a permanent goodbye to a family friend. My parents and a few other families formed a close relationship and as children we grew up with gatherings and parties in each others’ houses. Indeed as a group of children we have remained in friendship over the years.

Moyra was one of the parents’ generation. At nearly 94, she had had a good life with only in recent years being in a care home. She and her late husband were recalled by her children and grandchildren with fondness, love and humour. Only one other couple of that generation remain one of whom, at 95, was present.

The service was in the Cloisters crematorium at Warriston, hence the photo.
