A special funeral for a very special lady
Anne stayed in our village for many years. We both came from Glasgow and her daughter was a sparky ‘live wire’ who spent many, many hours in our house. She kept my four occupied. She was always putting on plays, laying carpet tiles in the tree house and generally being a lot of fun. Anne was godmother to our son, Ben. Her husband, Des, was incredibly funny. They were lapsed Catholic and we were lapsed Protestant. But love of wine proved a great bridge! Her funeral was magnificent. We entered to ‘Still Crazy After All These Years’. The reflection was to the music of the Beatles, ‘In My Life’. And we left to ‘Thank you for the Music’. Somehow it was joyous- and funny - and incredibly sad!
