Chilled Saturday
I have had a decent day despite high fibro pain.
I have been in a lot of pain with my fibromyalgia - the endless, torrential rain isn’t helping with that. It’s often like this here in January but boy, it has rarely stopped! I didn’t sleep until after 2am again, just couldn’t switch off but managed to stay in bed until 9.30am which is a lie in for me!
I had my coffee and breakfast and then sat with my electric heat pad on which helped a lot. I decided not to undo the beautiful work the district nurse did on my foot dressing by showering so had a sink wash.
I only needed my walking stick to get me out of bed and into the kitchen and living room and didn’t need to use it after that, I was so happy I could have cried tears of joy. I have folded it up and put it away in the cupboard. I don’t like using the stick to be honest but it’s good to know it’s there for severe fibro flares and I am trying to see it as an aid to my personal independence - feel more like a granny though!
Headed out to pick up an iPaper and some milk, hoping it would help stretch my joints a bit and it did help. My foot is much improved and I have only needed two paracetamols today. Yay! The pain has lessened and the wound is rather itchy which I believe means it is healing. I will shower and dress the foot tomorrow morning, all being well. The shower seat has made such a difference.
Yesterday, I booked a telephone GP appointment for Monday (I was lucky to get a cancellation) and it is with my own GP who has a full understanding of my medical history which really makes all the difference.
I’m going to review my fibro meds and request that bloods be taken and I need my blood pressure checked - it is long overdue due to a fall I had outside in June last year, it was a little high in June/July last year. January is going to be a very busy month but I will get there. I have physio, talk therapy and lots of life admin to catch up on. I am going to do my best to pace myself.
This afternoon, I had a sandwich and some veggie soup and then decided to make the most of a brief dry spell to go for a short walk. I did just over 5,000 steps according to my phone which is a lot for me. I feel achy tonight but the fresh air really cleared my head.
I managed to take an outside Blip (yeehah!) of some grey dove feathers stuck to the side of a wall and the raindrops and the colours looked so magical and pretty, I had to take a snap.
I also visited the cemetery to take a few moments to visit the grave of old neighbours of mine from many years ago.
It is five years since Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries died. She was only 46 years old. I was a massive fan of both the band and her voice. I fell to the floor when I heard she had passed away, just as did when Amy Winehouse died.
After my walk, I got warm again and made a coffee and relaxed with the paper (see extra). The other extras are of me before I got ready for my walk (I can’t wait to get my hair cut and a fringe trim!) and the walking stick, lying on my bed before being tidied away. I hope I am not jumping the gun but I am so happy not to need just now. I may regret it being in the cupboard by the morning! Fingers crossed.
Tonight, I watched The Masked Singer - I love that show and will do more Duolingo German before an early bed with my book and heat pad.
One of my best friend’s sisters is in hospital all set to give birth so I look forward to hearing when she has had her baby - she already has twins, a girl and boy. My friend is so excited to be an uncle again.
I’m off to watch The John Bishop Show shortly with a cuppa - I think he’s a brilliantly funny comedian and I like his show as it’s a combination of his stand up and a chat show with a couple of guests.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far. Thanks for all your stars, comments and hearts :) xx
