Buenos Aires
Those who follow Munroist4113 will know that she is very well travelled (and currently in West Africa). Munroist4113 is also a great supporter of the Platform to Platform project. She is one of the blippers who came to our podcast series launch in Malvern on 24th May last year. Thank you Munroist4113!
This blip is Munroist4113's latest contribution to our online journal of locations mentioned in Lorna Lloyd's Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series). Pictured here is the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires. This building is the office of the president of Argentina and classified as a historic monument. There is more information about it on Wikipedia.
Lorna refers to Buenos Aires in her diary entry of December 28th 1939 when she writes about the death of Otto Langsdorf, Captain of the Admiral Graf Spee. He scuttled his ship during the Battle of the River Plate, and committed suicide soon afterwards. You can hear Lorna's great-great niece Bethany Ray voice act her great-great aunt's account of this in Episode 4 of our podcast series.
We are still keen to hear from blippers who have in their photo archives pictures that could represent any of the places in the list below, or could access photos from others (e.g. family members, friends) that could be used in our project. Please do check the list and let us know if you could help out with this challenge.
If you are able to join in with this game of blipper bingo, please send your contribution(s) (not previously blipped) to h.hall@napier.ac.uk and we will feature it(them) alongside the others that we have been blipping here since 13th July 2022. The places that we seek to represent are listed below.
