Pohutukawa.....

.....known as New Zealand's Christmas tree, flowering from December through summer, gracing our coastline with it's vibrant red flowers, it's one of my favourite summer blooms. 

A backblip going back to early Jan, hubby and I had a wonderful wander round Gore Bay settlement. A small beach settlement with a camping ground and baches, no shops, petrol or takeaways. Families come to holiday, picnics on the beach or at reserves, very casual and relaxing. There were many wonderful gardens with beach flowers in full bloom but it was the brilliant red of the Pohutukawa flowers which took my eye.
