The bluebell wood

I was just setting off for a walk this morning when I saw one of the neighbours in the orchard wondering where the conservationists were, as they due to cut the trees back today.  When I say neighbour, I consider everyone on our patch a neighbour, but he lives overlooking the second playing field a few hundred yards away.

We walked around the first playing field and headed towards the pond to see what damage the recent weather had done to the weir, and as we were standing there an egret circled overhead and dropped down beside the reeds at the far side of the pond.  We've never seen one there before so stood watching it for a while.  Added as an extra.

The main picture shows what the conservationists have done in the bluebell wood.  The circular structures are where they've cut down the hazel and they are constructed to stop munjacs and rabbits eating the new shoots.  They've created a barrier around the edge of the area to stop people walking among the flowers when they emerge.  It will certainly make it difficult to take pictures.
