Death by Chocolate
Our Book Group which has been running for 40 years and used to be held on an evening every month has reflected the growing age of our members by becoming a matinee affair. Whereas before, there were working mothers and young children to cater for, now we are retired with grown up children and time on our hands.
Today it was my turn to host the meeting and for the occasion I turned on my central heating. It’s one thing sitting in a freezing house in order to deny the energy companies their massive profits but quite another thing to subject your friends to polar conditions.
Being warm is such a delight and we had a very convivial afternoon where the discussion on the book of choice -The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak- was dismissed rather quickly leaving us to natter about local topics and eat cake.
