Ah, a proper resistor (not a flea-sized cube on a circuit board).  I suspect the skill of reading resistor values is one that's beginning to be forgotten.

Fixing one of the sets of Christmas lights (more as a matter of principle than a meaningful economy).  One of the other sets, wires held steady with superglue for the duration, won't be back - except, perhaps, as individual  lights on a model railway...
