As If By Magic

......... I had another go at one or two more ideas for photo group’s competition ‘ Glassware ‘. Got everything set up and decided to do it properly by getting the tripod out - I wish I hadn’t bothered because the camera somehow became detached from the tripod head ( even though I had checked it was firmly connected ) ....... I turned my back to pick something else up and heard a stomach churning crash and clatter as the camera and lens hit the stone floor. I just stood and stared at the many bits that had broken off my second favourite lens, briefly broke into tears of dread before composing myself and inspecting the damage.
Sadly the lens is quite badly damaged even though the glass appears to be intact, so I’m gutted :-(((((
So far, the camera appears to be working correctly, which is a relief - but I need to give it a more thorough testing.
That tripod ( and it wasn’t a cheap one ) has never instilled confidence that it was secure which is why I always check it thoroughly when I connect the camera to it but I really can’t work out what must have happened :-/
Anyway, the lens is more than ten years old and isn’t manufactured any more so I thought that I wouldn’t be able to replace it but, just as I was about to give up looking, I came across a mint condition used one for sale - fingers crossed that it really is mint condition ;-)
............. and I won’t be using that tripod head ever again!!!!
