The Busload of Books Tour

Today we returned to the City of Rocks to meet up with our cherished daughter and grandson.  They had joined their good friends on the Busload of Books Tour in Phoenix and traveled to New Mexico where we will take them (our family) to Albuquerque with us on Sunday. The tour and the family are only half way done.

The Busload of Books Tour is a yearlong project to promote literacy and raise awareness of the challenges facing our nation’s public schools.

Illustrator/author duo Robbi Behr and Matthew Swanson and their four kids are spending the 2022-2023 school year traveling the country in a school bus/tiny home, visiting Title I schools in all 50 states (plus DC), and giving away 25,000 of their personally created hardcover books to students and teachers from underserved communities.

Our family and their family climbed to the top of the nearby mesa to look down on the City of Rocks which look like little brown bumps from our perspective.
