Melmerby

Melmerby lies at the foot of the Pennines before the accent over the Hartside Pass to Alston and all places east. It is a spectacular drive on a good day; best avoided in snow. The village has an extensive village green. The picture shows part of it and the stream which was running a deep red after the heavy rain all day.
