Restenneth Priory & Arbroath Smokies

Today is a fine mild sunny day and although Pat and I are still under the weather with our bugs, I suggested we take a drive to Arbroath and purchase some Arbroath Smokies.

As usual we made our way by a circuitous route which took us to the brown tourist sign announcing Restenneth Priory.

Several Churches of Scotland have a banner on display with the words ‘Try Praying’. Good Advice.

I parked the car we explored the ruins of Restenneth Priory and two photos are shown in the extras.

The main Blipfoto shows, what appears to be an Angel praying. This image is carved into a stone which is reminiscent of a Pictish Stone but is probably younger. Certainly quite a lot more permanent than a Banner.

Marriana Lines makes no reference to it in her Travellers Guide to Sacred Scotland. Some further investigation is required.

We then journeyed to Arbroath to purchase the Arbroath Smokies. The pend gate to the extras is shown on the final extra.

We decided to dine in the Bell Rock Restaurant before returning home. They serve a rather fine gluten free Arbroath Smokie.

We wore masks but when we entered the restaurant we were the only two diners. I believe the restaurant can cater to  200 or so diners.

However, the food was delicious and freshly prepared. We then returned home, refreshed with fine food, the sun and a mixture of fresh country air followed by some invigorating sea air.

We are still suffering from the bug, and hopefully it will disappear shortly.
