Mr Grumpy
Knocking off another species for my yardbird record this year, the invasive European House Sparrow. I like this particular shot because he definitely looks grumpy. Missus in Extra. These are singularly unpopular birds to most American birders - for the simple reason that they are extremely aggressive and are known to kill baby and adult bluebirds, swallows and chickadees in order to take over a nest box. Sometimes putting their own nest right on top of the corpses! Setting that aside, they are pretty birds and it isn't really their fault that they were introduced to this country or that they have appalling manners.
After one good night of sleep, I was back to no sleep again last night so I've been dragging today. Fortunately, Jax has been pretty chill and I was even able to get out in the hide for a short time this afternoon. We have gotten about an inch of wet snow, which is very pretty since it is sticking to all the branches. And doesn't require any snow removal activities which is a bonus.
Dark with raspberries today.
