Redpoll
We got very good views of a Redpoll cleaning all it’s feathers at lunchtime. It’s not a bird we see regularly so I was keen to get a clear photo BUT it barely stopped cleaning and almost every angle had branches in the way.
This is as good as I managed.
We did a Supermarket run today but just to our local M&S - quite successful for a change in that we got the main items we wanted, plenty on the shelves on a Thursday it seems. For bread we went to Hadfield Bakery the best local bakers.
After the shops the sun came out and we had that walk to the park but we got a bit chilled (perhaps it was all that standing about trying to take photos) and so settled down with the heating turned up!
We watched the film version of Tinker, Tailor …. Gary Oldman, Colin Firth et al. Very good. We have just recorded all of the Alec Guinness version from BBC4 in recent weeks so It will be a while before we get to that.
Winterwatch continues to irritate at times and then something wonderful appears. Good to see David Attenborough talking Chris Packham BUT too short and more tomorrow.
A channel full of 90 minute (not 90 seconds) mindful moments is what we need. the BBC have trouble finding programmes to fill the schedules and the film makers involved with the programme and other’s previous used must have hours of unused recordings it seems an obvious solution.
Why have presenters standing in the dark in the cold ?
and often stumbling over their words - it’s live and rushed - why ? for who’s benefit ? not the viewer. 4 main presenters, why in pairs? too many talking heads. I could go on! Somebody needs to be brave and update the format
