Work
I visited Southampton Art Gallery to see the excellent Landscape Unbound exhibition - on until 4 March and worth a visit if you're in the area.
The paintings are in pairs to highlight changes between the 'natural' landscape and the landscape changed by man.
I liked this painting by David Redfern LG. He was inspired by Ford Madox Brown's painting Work because of the real working people and the identifiable location. Travelling to Hampstead, he was quickly able to locate the actual site of the painting, which had hardly changed in over 100 years.
