Sailing . . . Rod Stewart
This morning Andrew and I had a blip met to photograph the arrival of Europa 2 a cruise ship with 516 passengers. They will spend the afternoon in Nelson and leave this evening. I may go see it leave. It was good to have something other than the garden to blip. I was happy with my settings in the bright sunshine. I chose this one because of what can be seen when you zoom in. The stones are on the Boulder Bank which is a natural spit that protects the harbour from Tasman Bay. It ends at The Cut which is the entrance to the harbour. The ship looks so big behind the yacht in the foreground. In the background are the Western Rangers I see from home. After photos we had lunch. Excellent, thank you Andrew.
The extra is from the lovely daughter. Last night Auckland experienced a deluge of rain. She couldn't get a bus home and as she walked there were times the water was knee deep. At one point she helped another woman through rushing water. Her suburb is on a hill and she lives on the second floor which are good points in a flood. This morning she went out to see how things looked and reported most water had drained away and Victoria Park was no longer a lake. She hopes her Doc Martens will dry out. They are floral and she has had them a long time. A state of emergency has been declared for Auckland. I spent sometime doom scrolling to see the damage.
