Madison

One of the reasons for the long trip to California. Our first meeting and hugs with Madison who took it all in her stride. We’ll see Landon tomorrow at his soccer class.

The final stages of the long trip to San Marcos and Encinitas were relatively smooth. It was a long, long night after going to bed at 9.00pm (5am UK). Sleep came quickly then was elusive except for naps. Gave up about 6.15 and went to get coffee and tea.

Despite the early hour we didn’t rush things, went to breakfast at about 8.30, packed and ubered it to the car rental site to pick up the car.

As usual they tried to sell us additional insurance even though we had bought an annual standalone policy in the UK. Stood our ground and got additional charges removed.

The 100 mile trip south was largely uneventful except for nearly getting on a toll road. Lots of traffic. Thank goodness for CarPlay and Apple Maps to guide us.

We called in on Chris first then drove on to Christy and Rob’s home in Encinitas where we’re staying. Wonderful house and very welcoming, Madison was there to greet us as Christy is doing some daycare. Carly and Chris came over for dinner.
