Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

I had a bit of a lie in this morning, after yesterday’s, er, excitement. JR, though still with a sore foot and hobbling, could NOT resist going to the gym, but she took the car instead of walking. And she didn’t do any jumping. She also took Archie out, in her UGG slippers, for a very slow walk.

But I did get up later, it was such a nice sunny day. Archie and I went for a (slow) walk round the Links. This is actually the ‘Muriel Spark Walk’.

Finished watching that silly Pirates (Our Flag Means Death) programme, but really, after a brilliant first three episodes, it descended into complete farce, and I suspect they just were just making it up as they went along. I still love Rhys Darby though.

We’re trying to finish ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, but it’s pretty graphic. No other way of depicting WW1, of course. I’m also listening to an audiobook (‘Regeneration’ by Pat Barker) about Siegfried Sassoon when he was at Craiglockart War Hospital being treated for ‘shell shock’. Got a bit of a theme going…

Elizabeth didn’t come today, but she’s coming tomorrow, so Archie will get a long walk, though he doesn’t complain.
