This is one of over 600 libraries to benefit from Andrew Carnegie’s philanthropy.
Although the design is unique, its exterior contains three elements commonly featured in Carnegie libraries. It has a prominent doorway, a staircase symbolising a person’s elevation by learning and two lanterns symbolising enlightenment.
Carnegie said, ‘Study. Concentration is my motto. First honesty, then industry, then concentration.
