Swirling snow ..
Windy conditions up the top … but the temperature rise from -12 to -7 as it started snowing . It was incredibly windy. I asked one of the patrol guys if anyone had ever been blown over on to a black or double diamond ( very difficult) run … he stared at me a while obvious that he was assessing some mad woman and he said ‘always a first time ‘ … then he stared a little more and I think he looked at Jim and felt sorry for him ( Jim gets that a lot ) .
Also today we were asked to accompany a small child up one of the chair lifts , we’ve had this before , the ski schools get people who are not travelling as a four up the lifts to take the pupils So we got Tilda from Ontario … she was 5 had been skiing since she was 3. Her brother thinks she’s annoying because Tilda sings and tap dances AT HIM when he asks her not to … she said life was better when she was 4 because her class at school was nicer and clearly this is the end of happiness until she dies ….. you learn an awful lot in 7 minutes on the flying mile chair lift . Then you wait at the top for the instructors who take the less confident children and Tilda wished us a good day and thanked us , as did the instructors.
When I first started skiing I found it weird that ski schools did this but now it’s just the way it is … in fact as a younger person I was sent up with strangers . I talked at them a lot and they looked relieved to get rid of me .
Apparently it’s going to snow all day tomorrow and I love skiing in the snow, plus it’s warmer if it snows which is weird isn’t it .
